Career support can be challenging to find, especially for those moving to a new country or in a job transition. Job seekers don't always know how to apply their skills to career opportunities or which jobs are available to them. Career orientations and job fairs are costly and difficult to scale.
SkillLab aims to provide equal opportunities for all by providing access to career guidance, connecting labor market actors, and uncovering pathways to social and economic participation.
Powered by an artificial intelligence-based solution, SkillLab uses an assessment engine that builds skill profiles by intelligently adapting to the answers of job seekers. The technology combines the intelligence of an interviewer with a data model that describes all relevant skills in the labor market to match people to job opportunities. By helping people communicate their skills and suggesting career pathways, SkillLab enables access to new opportunities and encourages lifelong learning.
By working with a range of implementation partners and providing quality career guidance in 28 different languages, SkillLab has served communities in 32 countries reaching more than 10,000 people. Their AI solution has reduced the cost of a career orientation by 99%.
In addition to receiving funding from Google.org, SkillLab is participating in Google's Startups for Sustainable Development, which is a program for startup companies working on solutions that make progress towards the Global Goals.
