ACMOS and CIFA seek to understand the difussion of online hate speech in Italy and tackle this through offline training modules that engage the education sector, representatives from media firms, the private sector and activists. ACMOS will develop a hate speech mapper that visualises the state of hate speech in Italy and how hateful content travels from user to user, platform to platform. They will use this research to feed into a "train the trainer" model that is up to date and impactful in teaching participants how to recognise and combat hate speech, that can be used in schools to teach students how to address hate speech in a productive and healthy way. Finally, this research will inform the establishment of a database that collates reliable national-level statistics.
