In France, the food industry has millions of unfilled job opportunities due to a lack of qualified individuals. In addition, approximately 80% of workers are non-contractual – of which, 60% are women.
Empower My Mama is seeking to remedy this issue via a scalable and open-source digital culinary training academy: ‘Cook for Change’. The platform provides free access to over 5,000 hours of online culinary content across 200 courses, as well as formal qualification pathways for users to secure recognised certifications.
Over the next 3 years, the organisation aims to reduce gender inequality within the food industry by supporting more than 2,000 women to secure a culinary job, and an estimated 500 entrepreneurs to create their own culinary businesses.
