Greenhouse gas emissions by human activity have increased across all major industries globally since 2010. To avoid further disastrous effects of climate change we must halve global emissions in the next 10 years.
The Google.org Fellows assisted Normative in their mission to help small and medium-sized businesses take action to reach the UN’s target of net zero emissions by 2050.

How the Google.org Fellows helped
- 12 Google.org Fellows assisted Normative including software engineers, user experience designers, and product managers.
- Developed a free tool for small and medium-sized businesses to calculate their carbon emissions, which factors in the entire scope of emissions from every aspect of running their business.
Impact of the project
- This tool became the world’s most comprehensive and #1 carbon calculator for small and medium-sized businesses – with over 3,000 signing up.
- A total of 4.5M tonnes of CO2 was measured across over 1,800 businesses from 108 different countries.
