For NGOs to scale their impact and find innovative solutions for the world’s most pressing problems, they need access to world-class people working in tech.
A team of Google.org Fellows assisted Tech To The Rescue in their goal to match nonprofits with pro-bono tech talent.
“A lot of companies offer funding or coaching, but I have to say - I have never seen a company offer up their own employees pro-bono full-time for six months. Thanks to Google.org and the Fellowship, we were able to match over 100 nonprofits to pro-bono tech talent this year.”

How the Google.org Fellows helped
- Supported the improvement of Tech To The Rescue’s processes, customer relationship management, and marketing strategy.
- Formalised operational processes to support the growth of Tech To The Rescue from 5 to 20 people.
- Defined and measured KPIs to monitor and improve the effectiveness of the organisation.
- Assisted Tech To The Rescue to respond to the crisis in Ukraine by getting Ukrainian NGOs to submit projects, and matching those NGOs with pro-bono support (5 of which would come from Google teams).
- Supported Tech To The Rescue’s development by improving database quality, analysing the user experience and creating a product proposal to automate the matching of NGO requests with pro bono support.
Impact of the project
- Over 100 nonprofits working on Ukrainian relief have been matched with tech talent.
- One of these projects (uaSOS.org) helped 4,000+ refugees from Ukraine access temporary housing
