Black Girls CODE

Closing the opportunity gap for Black women and girls by establishing equal representation in the tech sector through computer programming and technology.

Partner:
GoldieBlox.

About the project:
By creating an online platform that hosts guided modules with culturally-responsive and representative STEM content, girls will build tangible skills in computer programming. They will work on educational and entertaining projects with mentors that look like them and break the mold of overrepresentation of male hosts in coding videos.

About the organization:
Black Girls CODE builds pathways for Black girls to embrace tech as builders and creators, by introducing them to skills in computer programming and technology.

GoldieBlox is a next-generation kids and family multimedia company challenging gender stereotypes with the world's first girl engineer and coder characters in children's toys. GoldieBlox creates content that inspires, toys that teach, and campaigns make STEM fun and accessible to all kids, especially girls, who have been underrepresented in STEM fields.
