A Lust for Life is creating a new, innovative platform to share creative mental health content; created by children, for children; for every school in Ireland. Futureflix will look and feel like a Netflix model, using language and media they already engage with and will be underpinned by the best psychological and pedagogical practices and expertise around. A Lust for Life has a full project plan for a pilot in 4 schools and 4 homework clubs nationwide in 2019. They also plan to scale incrementally over three years with the aim of connecting with every school in Ireland.
Through this project, they envisage a world where all children have better tools and capacity to talk about their feelings, feel better equipped to navigate the evolving world around them and where teachers are confident in handling issues relating to children’s mental health and wellbeing. Their hope is that this project will bring increased levels of kindness, acceptance, empathy and non-judgement for children in schools - creating ‘sound’ environments where children trust they will be supported and feel safe to talk.
To date, A Lust for Life has asembled a Steering Committee to bring together expertise in psychology, education, academia, technical/digital, and creative areas and scheduled 2 focus groups with teachers and children. They’ve also recruited technical experts to build the platform, educational specialists to design teacher materials, and a mental health advisory panel to ensure best practice.
